Strawberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Prep time: 24 Hours*

Make time: 30 Minutes

Chill time: 3 hours

Total time: 3 hours and 30 minutes

*24 hours (or more) before making the ice cream, place your ice cream attachment for the KitchenAid in the freezer!

16 ounces of fresh strawberries

2 cups 2% milk

2 cups heavy whipping cream

¾ cup sugar

Vanilla extract (measure with your heart- I eyeball about 2 teaspoons)

Sprinkle of salt

Mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (measure with your heart- I eyeball about ½ cup)

Cut tops off strawberries and place in a blender or food processor. Mix until strawberries are pureed. If you want chunks, save a few and chop into chunks individually.

Whisk together strawberry puree, milk, heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a medium sized bowl. You want the sugar to be completely dissolved.

Slowly add mixture into stand mixer. Mix at level 2 for 20 minutes. If you are adding chocolate chips and/or chunked strawberries, mix them in at the last 5 minutes of mixing.

Place in an airtight container and chill for about 3 hours.
